AIFD was asked to design new Uniforms for the Army Band. The brief was to design three uniforms, one set for Summer, one for Winter and another for Concerts. Nine students and the faculty members were involved in the project. Certain parameters like colour, and comfort were kept in mind while designing the uniforms. The students also visited the CMP office in Bangalore to look at their band dress and discuss the uniform requirements with the band personnel. Some of the feedback received included :-

>> Laundry done by launderer after every performance
>> Duration of performance – 3-4 hours
>> Buttons and epaulettes and other insignia detachable
>> Fabric should be crease resistant
>> Should have pockets in jackets to keep ID card

The students designed the uniforms keeping these requirements in mind. Some of the designs were shortlisted and sent. The designs are being finalised at present.
